About the Staff Eliza Crescentini has been the Executive Director at Berkshire South since February of 2003. She joined the Center the year before as the Director of Operations. Previously Eliza served as a Director at St Joseph’s Villa in Richmond Virginia and as Executive Director of Sylvan Learning Center’s title one programs in Richmond Virginia. Eliza spent over 15 years working in the theatre where she both performed and taught. She has volunteered as an Adoption mentor, been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Berkshire County Red Cross and worked on committees in non-profit community development. In 2006, she received the Ray Brien Award for Leadership from the United Way, an organization whose 2006/2007 capital campaign she co-chaired. Eliza has volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, sits on the Board of Visitors of Miss Hall’s School, and serves on several steering committees. Eliza and her husband Marco have six children and make their home here in the Southern Berkshires. Jenise Lucey is the Managing Director of Berkshire South. Before having joined the Center's team in 2004, Jenise had spent three years in restaurant management at Brasserie Jo Restaurant at The Colonnade Hotel in Boston and at The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, MA. Jenise received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a concentration in hospitality. With a deep-routed upbringing as a competitive swimmer in a YMCA atmosphere, Jenise feels as though her efforts have come full-circle in her dedication to community through her work at Berkshire South. She and her husband Mark live in Great Barrington with their dog, Lacey. In her spare time, Jenise enjoys baking, beading, and spending time with friends and family. Laura Martin has been a volunteer aquatics coach for Special Olympics since 2001 and has been volunteering at various Special Olympics local events including track & field and downhill skiing for a number of years. I am certified as an Outdoor Emergency Care Technician, which allows me to volunteer for the National Ski Patrol, which I done as much as possible for the last 14 years. I teach ski and snowboard lessons at Otis Ridge Ski Area. I am the youth coordinator at my church, which means that I organize activities for 6th-12th graders. I am certified by the Red Cross as an instructor in First Aid/CPR/AED, Babysitters’ Training, and Lifeguard Training. In between my various activities, I spend as much time as possible with my husband and two-year-old daughter. Joan Peters is the Associate Director of Youth Programs. She came to Berkshire South in September 2006. She started working with children many years ago when she had her own family daycare. When she sent her youngest off to kindergarten, she continued her work with children at Undermountain Elementary School in the Special Education Department. She gave 14 years to that experience before joining Berk South. She has an amazing relationship with her daughter. She comes from a large family and caring for children is her passion in life. She opts to see the glass as half full and enjoys giving her time to the community around her. Heather Swanson is the Director of Early Childhood Programming at Berkshire South. She came to us from the Southern Berkshire Child Care Program where she was the Early Childhood Program Director for 5 ½ years. Heather has always had a passion for young children. She has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska . Heather enjoys spending time with her husband Craig and son Esher exploring the Berkshires. Despite her Midwestern roots, Heather is always up for new challenges and for finding creative ways to spread her wings.
