  BERKSHIRE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE TEENS (B.O.A.T.)
For 13 & 14 year olds
July 7 to August 1, Mon - Fri
9 AM to 4 PM

A four week summer program designed through collaboration between the Housatonic River Museum and Berkshire South. BOAT program provides an engaging envrionmentally-oriented experience for middle school aged students. The program explores the natural, receational and cultural offerings found within the Housatonic River Valley through field tips, team building and service learning opportunities. Explore the regions, engage the community.

  RISING STARS Theatre Workshop
For 15 to 17 year olds
August 11 to August 22, Mon to Fri
10 AM to 1 PM

This two-week workshop is offered through collaboration between Castle Hill Theatre Company and Berkshire South. Under the guidance of Nicki Wilson participants will develop skills to interpret, adapt and perform a play based upon the classics, a well-known fairy tale or myth. Castle Hill Theatre Company in collaboration with Berkshire South is dedicated to increasing the quantity and quality of family theatre productions in the Berkshires. Rising Stars introduces an adolescent ensemble to the magical sets, beautiful costumes and professional actors CHTC has engaged in its work.

  Red Cross Youth Leadership Program
Kicks off May 31 with a FREE day of activities
ALL 8th graders welcome!

Red Cross Youth Leadership program gets kick started on May 31st, after that those who participate will continue in September including a Leadership Conference at Chimney Corners YMCA Camp in Becket – Oct 4 & 5. 
The students will then have a 1 year commitment to work as a group on volunteer community service projects they choose.  Throughout the school year the students will meet approximately twice a month to identify, plan and implement their volunteer projects.  Additionally once a week students will meet for a life skills curriculum program that includes conflict resolution, decision making, planning for life after high school, dating dynamics, sex education, values and leadership development.  Learning opportunities will also be provided to students throughout the year.

BILINGUAL SUMMER CAMP
A fun-filled summer camp that integrates Spanish and English speaking students and teachers. Each week of activities will be infused with curriculum geared toward multiculturalism and diversity by inclusion of a variety of perspectives, discussion of social contexts, and activities that foster critical thinking and development of self-awareness, respect, tolerance, empathy, honesty and kindness. The program encourages the expression of ideas through involvement in a variety of team building games and activities including swimming, hiking, nature studies, creative arts and crafts, cooking, gardening and dancing.

Weekly Cost - Guests $275 Members $225
No camp July 4 - fee is pro rated
Sibling discount $50 per child weekly enrollment only.

ACTION ADVENTURES OUT-OF-SCHOOL
Starting Aug. 29 and continues to June 16, 2008

Action Adventures Out-of-School emphasizes strong beliefs in children's capabilities and the freedom to express their individuality in a way that will build a life-long foundation for excellence and success. Children are encouraged to discover their own talents as a way of empowering themselves.

These after school sites provide quality after school care for school age children. All sites will include homework time, physical activities, arts and crafts, as well as free time under the supervision of a mature, nurturing and creatve staff. Students enrolled full-time receive 50% off enrichment programs. Financial Aid is available.

  Never miss work again!
SNOWY DAY
Never miss work again because of snow days. Berkshire South's Snowy Day Program gives the working parent an option when school is cancelled due to inclement weather. Families who register for the Snowy Day Program are welcome to drop their children off for a day filled with art projects, swimming, music, and sports. All children must be registered in advance. Space is limited.

Fee: Half Day $20 9:00AM - 1:00PM
Fee: Full Day $35 9:00AM - 5:00PM
Pre-register for Snowy Day. There will be no Out-of-School Programming. Enrollment is limited.

What to do when school is out or there is early dismissal? Enroll your child or children for a day of fun-filled activities at the center. Kids will enjoy swimming, games, arts and crafts, music, and sports.

Parents! Need to run errands or at times need a babysitter? Stop, Drop and Shop is just the answer. "Stop" at Berkshire South, "Drop" and sign-in your kids for games, storytelling and arts & crafts, and you can "Shop" or whatever you need to get accomplished. 24 hours pre-registration is required.

TEEN PICK-UP BASKETBALL

SATURDAY LEARN TO SWIM

If your child is floating on their front and back, comfortable putting their face in the water, and swimming underwater or doing a doggy paddle most of the time, and you feel your child is ready for some real stroke development this class is designed specifically for that.

Emphasis will be on learning the front crawl with rhythmic breathing, back crawl, and side stroke. Swimming safety will also be discussed. Pre-registration is required. For ages 5 years and above.

Homeschool Adventures in Learning!

Adventures in Learning is a participatory home-school group experience for children 4-7 years old and their parent. Together we will explore our creative imagination through open-ended art experiences, using a variety of natural and recycled materials. Children's interests in the natural world and seasonal changes will guide our art projects, science learning and fun.
