A membership at Berkshire South Regional Community Center offers a number of social, health and community classes for all ages. The following adult programming is included with a membership at no additional charge to members.

 
Pilates

Our popular Sunday morning class is based on Joseph Pilates' discipline of strengthing the muscles central to posture and lengthening all muscles essential to balance, movement and agility. It is suitable for all levels.

Wake Up Workout

This is a complete and challenging exercise class that is sure to "wake you up!" It uses music, fitness equipment and the latest approach to strengthening, stretching, toning and improving your cardio ability.

Heart & Soul

This playful movement class combines Latin dance, African-Caribbean, jazz, funk & modern dance and kickboxing to create an energetic, diverse aerobic workout. Emphasis is on cardio-vascular fitness, coordination, muscular strength, balance and flexibility. Rediscover your inner "Youth" as you move to sensuous world beat, rock & roll, and funk music.

Yoga-Pilates

This eclectic, all-levels class is designed for those students who wish to deepen their practice in a safe, non-threatening environment. Traditional Hatha Asanas are blended with Pilates core strengthening, breath work, postural alignment, and restorative poses to promote the integration of physical, emotional and energetic well-being. Music is utilized and laughter is encouraged.

Whole Body Workout

BOOT CAMP

Expressive Movement, Conditioning and Calm
NIA

Chair Special Conditions

This class is carefully designed for those who are experiencing discomfort due to age, arthritis, injuries, fibromyalgia and/or other conditions which preclude attendance at traditional exercise classes. This class is a full-body workout done entirely from a comfortably seated position in a comfortable chair. We provide the chair, you provide the smile!

Circuit Training

All-around fitness class that encompasses strengthening the cardio vascular system with functional weight training and movement. A series of weight stations will be used. All fitness levels welcome.

  Muscle Toning and Strengthening
Group Strength & Tone

This is a 50-minute group weight training and toning workout addressing all the major muscle groups, followed by 10 minutes of cool down.

Cardio Express

WATER MAGIC

Water is a magical realm that supports, heals, envelops & holds. Within water we can create waves, ripples, stillness and fun. Join the community to immerse yourself in healing water play. Through imagery, music and breath, exercise your body, mind, spirit and soul. This class is geared toward all levels of fitness and might leave you with a smile in your heart.

DEEP WATER RUNNING

Using aqua belts, noodles and other equipment, this deep water class combines interval and toning exercises to train the cardio system and strengthen muscles. This is the perfect class if you need a no-impact workout.

WEEKEND WATER REVERIE

This is a vigorous, uplifting class taught to terrific music. It includes a complete shallow-end warm-up, a full blast of aerobics for the heart and a luxurious deep water exercise done with floatation assistance. The emphasis is on alignment and freeing the hips and back. A high-spirited, high energy hour of delight.

This is a slow-paced class that features low-impact water walking, wall work and movements designed to enhance joint flexibility, muscle strength and balance. It is excellent for anyone who has been sedentary and wants to get moving again in a comfortable environment.

WILD WATER WORKOUT

Take the plunge and find out what a difference aqua exercise can make! 30 minutes of high-energy aerobics combined with 30 minutes of muscle-specific exercise equals an exciting and effective workout. This class uses both shallow and deep water and is a higher-impact format.

PRIVATE SWIM INSTRUCTION

Tap into the expertise of a Red Cross certified swim instructor. Learn how to swim more efficiently and safely. Half or full hour. 24-hour pre-registration is required.

This course is designed for ages 6 months and up.

PRIVATE AQUATIC EXERCISE with a Personal Trainer

Using water-resistance create your own personal aquatic workout focusing on your physical needs with our highly motivated, skilled and knowledgeable Aquatic Instructors. A 24-hour notice is requested to make an appointment. Fee is paid at the front desk located in the main lobby prior to training session. Specialty session-based courses are offered to members and non-members for an additional fee. Each session is 7 weeks, pre-registration is required. If you register after a session has begun, a pro-rated fee will be offered thorugh the second week of class. The daily rate applies after that.

Yoga Flow
A 75-minute, intermediate level Yoga class that incorporates active flexibility, strength, balance and coordination. Saturday Learn to Swim
If your child is floating on their front and back, comfortable putting their face in the water and swimming underwater or doing a doggy paddle most of the time, and you feel your child is ready for some real stroke development, this class is design specifically for that.

Emphasis will be on learning the front crawl with rhythmic breathing, back crawl and side stroke. Swimming safety will also be discussed. Pre-registration is required.
