Guided Hikes with Berkshire South
Explore some of the special places of the Berkshires with these guided family hikes. Led by an experienced guide, you’ll learn about the area’s human and natural history, ecology, plant and animal wildlife. Bring your own water, lunch or snack, appropriate clothing and footwear, and sunscreen. Hikes will meet at the locations
stated, details provided upon registration (let us know if you’re interested in carpooling from BSRCC). Pre-registration is required for all hikes.

Enjoy the blazing fall colors at their peak while traversing a diverse landscape featuring mixed deciduous forest, a beautiful wetland, beaver pond and heron rookery. An easy to moderate 2.4 mile hike.

Reading the Landscape Hike

Private Guided Canoe Trips & Hikes
Want to explore the great outdoors with a group of friends, relatives or coworkers? Privately guided Hikes and Canoe Trips can be arranged through Berkshire South with qualified and experienced guides. Trip experiences can be planned for 5-10 paddlers or up to 8 hikers. Berkshire South offers community service opportunities for court appointed hours. Individuals can fulfill their responsibility in an enriching environment while giving back in valuable ways. Please call for more details at 413-528-2810.

Service Learning Hours
High school students in the region are encouraged to complete service learning hours to prepare for continuing education opportunities. Berkshire South offers both the guidance necessary to

Basic Dog Obedience & Manners Training Class with Susan Fireman

Two 8 class series start Sept. 12 & Nov. 7
Dogs will learn how to focus on their handlers, walk on a leash and perform basic commands in this basic obedience and manners class. All dogs must be over 6 months, housebroken & leashed
at all times. Pet handlers must be at least 18 years old (up to two children at least 7 years old may accompany pet handler).
Not appropriate for dogs with aggression or major behavioral issues. Must provide proof of rabies vaccination, a snug collar, strong 4-6 ft long leash (not a pull-out), training treats and poop bags.
Classes will be outside, weather permitting.

Hiking a Poem Up a Waterfall

Meet at Monument Mountain for a guided hike grounded in poetry. Enjoy poetry pauses on this steep climb to enjoy the words about this scenic landmark penned in 1824 by William Cullen Bryant. It is remarkable to discover how Bryant’s detailed descriptions of the streams, rocks, cliffs and birds match the terrain that is experienced today. This program is co-sponsored by The Trustees of the Reservations and Great Barrington Trails and Greenways.

Monument Mountain Women’s Hike

Women are invited to join in a brisk 3.5 mile hike up Monument Mountain, one of the Berkshires most magical places. This fairly steep hike will include natural history, poetry and mountaintop
yoga. Hikers should bring water, a good level of fitness, and their sense of wonder. Meet at the parking area for Monument Mountain located on the west side of Route 7, midway between Stockbridge
