Aqua Special Conditions

This class is designed for people experiencing discomfort from age, arthritis, or fibromyalgia who will benefit from gentle aquatic exercises. The combination of the warm water and stretching movements will help ease discomfort and improve range of motion. Space is limited; please check availability by calling the Aquatics Office at (413) 528-2810 ext. 20.

Deep Water Running
Mon. 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Using aqua belts, noodles, and other equipment, this deep water class combines interval and toning exercises to train the cardio system and strengthen muscles. This is the perfect class if you need a no-impact workout.

Aqua Fitness
Tues. 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Come join a low-stress, high-energy work­out in the water. Burn those calories using a combination of moves in the deep and shallow water. Use this program as part of your exercise routine and see your life begin to change!

Aqua Thrills
Tues. 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Thurs. 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Beginning September 13
This class is designed for adults with special needs along with their caregivers, families, and friends. Move and play in the water using various flotation aids and toys. The ability to swim is not required.

Splashtastic Seniors
Wed. 10:00-11:00 a.m.
This is a slow-paced class that features low-impact water walking, wall work, and movements designed to enhance joint flexibility, muscle strength, and balance. It is excellent for anyone who has been sedentary and wants to get moving again in a comfortable environment.

Fountain of Youth
Thurs. 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Keep your youthful flexibility, muscle tone and strength! Maybe even improve upon it! There is no better place to do that than in the water. This class is welcoming to all ability levels; work in the deep water is not required. Bring your sense of humor. You’re going to laugh!

Aqua Reverie
Fri. 10:00-11:00 a.m.
This is a vigorous, uplifting class. It includes a complete shallow-end warm-up, a full blast of aerobics for the heart and a luxurious deep water exercise with flotation assistance. The emphasis is on alignment and freeing the hips and spine. A high-spirited, high energy hour of delight!

Weekend Energizer
Sat. 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Start off your weekend with an aerobic workout in the shallow end of the pool. Follow that with a luxurious series of stretching movements in the deep water. Your body will feel strong and open: ready for any activities your weekend may offer.

Laugh & Splash
Mon. 5:30-6:30 p.m.
For all levels of fitness, this class uses both the shallow and deep ends of the pool. This aqua class works on flexibility and strengthening of muscles. Be ready to energize your week and leave the pool with a smile!

Wild Water Workout
Tues. & Thurs. 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Take the plunge and find out what a difference aqua exercise can make! 30 minutes of high-energy aerobics combined with 30 minutes of muscle-specific exercise equals an exciting and effective workout. This class uses both the shallow and deep water in a higher-impact format.

Aqua Core
Wed. 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Begins September 14
Have fun with aquatic movements put to music. This class works the core muscles using the water’s resistance. All fitness levels are welcome and no experience is necessary.

Lap Swimming

Sat. 8:30-9:00 a.m.
Sun. 8:30-10:00 a.m.
We keep two lanes available during most aquatic programs, and at designated times 3 or more lanes are available for lap swimming or your own aquatic workout. Please be ready to share a lane.

Aquatic Exercise for Respiratory Conditions

Whether you experience COPD, emphysema, asthma, or another respiratory condition, you will benefit through water exercise. Learn how to enhance your experience in the water while focusing on breathing and breath control.

Cross Training for Athletes

Are you a runner, tennis player, skier, cycler, or all-around athlete interested in cross-training in the water? This work­shop focuses on sport-specific exercises that will give you a workout with less impact while enhancing your experience in your favorite sport.

Swim to Key West
Track your laps! Work on endurance and increase your fitness level. Teams of up to 10 swimmers (who do not need to swim at the same time) work toward the goal of collectively swimming the 1,310 miles from Great Barrington to Key West. Come join the fun and get to know other swimmers! Registration forms are available at the lifeguard stand.

Private Swim Instruction
Tap into the expertise of a Red Cross certified swim instructor and learn how to swim more efficiently and safely. Please call the Aquatics Department to make an appointment at 413-528-2810 ext. 20.
½ hour: Members $30, Guests $45

Semi-Private Swim Instruction
Groups of 2 or 3
Get together with a friend or family member and improve your swimming skills together. A fun experience for the whole family!

Personal Aquatic Exercise Training
Using water-resistance, create your own personal aquatic workout with one of our Aquatic Exercise Instructors. The instructor will take into account your personal goals, physical limitations, and exercise preferences in helping you develop your fitness plan. Aero Tone
Mon. & Fri. 9-10 a.m.
Join this fun energetic class that offers a fat-burning cardio kickboxing and total body strength training workout. Class is designed to work all the major muscle groups with special twists added by the instructor.

Cardio Jam
Tues. & Thurs. 9-10 a.m.
A playful, high energy class that combines easy-to follow Latin and Afro-Caribbean dance, jazz and funk to create a fun, innovative work-out. Emphasis is on cardio-vascular fitness, coordination, muscular strength, balance and flexibility.

Cardio Combo Challenge
Wed. 9-10 a.m.
Take a 60 minute cardio combo challenge! This weekly class includes high energetic cardio kickboxing and overall body toning designed to improve coordination, balance, muscle endurance and agility.

Cardio Kick Boxing
Sun. 10-11 a.m. & Wed. 5:30 p.m.
(Childcare only available on Wed.)
This class combines the flexibility and strength building of kickboxing. Kickboxing is high energy, explosive, exciting, motivating and fun! Punch mitts are used for an intense energy and muscle building blast. Suitable for all levels.

Bring some balance into your life! Enjoy the benefits of a stronger core, increased balance and more endurance for sports, recreation activities or the every day chores of life.

Pilates
Sun. 9-10 a.m.
This class is based on Joseph Pilates’ discipline of strengthening the muscles central to posture and lengthening all muscles essential to balance, movement and agility. Suitable for all levels.

Power Hour
Mon. & Fri. 5:30-6:30 p.m.
A one hour total body workout that incorporates a variety of high intensity cardio work focusing on endurance, power, agility, strength; ending with a relaxing stretch. Suitable for all levels.

RUSH
Tues. & Thurs. 5:30-6:20 p.m.
Wind down your day with this fun cardio and strength workout. Burn calories, build muscles and close your day knowing you’ve done something good for yourself. Suitable for all levels.

Strength & Balance for Seniors
Discover the benefits of increased strength combined with stretching. This one hour class will help improve balance, strength and coordination while demonstrating proper ways to work with weights and stretch.

Whole Body Workout
Mon. & Wed. 10-11 a.m.
Work your entire body! After 30 minutes of cardio work we move on to strength training using weights or DynaBands® to help tone muscles, strengthen and improve joint movement while building core strength. Suitable for all levels.

Yoga-Pilates
Tues. & Thurs. 10- 11 a.m.
This all-levels class combines traditional Hatha Asanas blended with Pilates core strengthening, breath work, postural alignment, and restorative poses to promote the integration of physical, emotional and energetic well-being.

Yoga for Every Body
Tues. & Thurs. 6:30- 7:30 p.m.
Refresh your body, soul and spirit with modifications offered for all levels. Promotes flexibility, gentle strength, and stress reduction. This is a Kripalu Yoga class taught with a compassionate approach.

Boot Camp Cardio Challenge
Thurs. 8-9 a.m.
This once a week high-intensity class will push you past your comfort zone. If you have energy and calories to burn then take on this challenge! Note: Class pace is high intensity. NO modifications. Participants are expected to keep the pace of class.

Zumba Gold-Tone
Sat. 10-11 a.m.
Enjoy the high energy Zumba you love plus get the added benefit of additional toning and sculpting. Experience interval training with light weight routines. Burn calories and tone muscles while you move and groove to great Latin and international music.

Zumba Gold
Fri. 10- 11 a.m.
Every class feels like a party! You don’t even have to know how to dance. Just move your body and follow the instructor’s lead. This is a total fitness experience incorporating Latin dance moves and basic steps.

Let us find the appropriate trainer for your specific needs! Learn how to establish a comprehensive workout regimen by working with one of our certified personal trainers. Efficient client assessment and progressive goal monitoring is part of the excellence you can expect.
30 minute or 1 hour sessions available. Rates range from $40.00-$75.00 per session.
• Trainer Twenty-four hour notice is  requested for scheduling appointments.
• A fee of $20.00 will be charged for not canceling with a 24 hour notice.

Fitness Body Assessment
A body assessment will help you identify your overall fitness strengths and weaknesses. We will identify fitness goals and provide alternative approaches to exercises with the guidance of a personal trainer. Appointments must be made 24 hours in advance. GET FIT Challenge
Aug. 3 - Oct. 1 & Oct. 5 - Dec. 3
This eight-week fitness challenge pro­gram may be just the motivation you need! Participants will be assigned to a team and will have weekly weigh-in times. The program includes exclusive workouts, workshops and classes. Participants receive 15% off personal training and massage.
