Support

How Are We Funded?
As a non-profit organization, BSRCC is not supported by local tax dollars, but rather relies on the generosity of our community to sustain us.

The Annual Appeal raises funds to help with scholarships and to provide free and low-priced programs for youth, seniors, adults, and families. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Berkshire South's annual campaign. All of our memberships are subsidized. 30% of the cost of membership is absorbed by the Center even before a member joins. For example, a family membership actually costs $1100, but is offered to the public at a yearly rate of $830.

We welcome any contributions; financial gifts or donations of time made by members of our broad community.
To contribute or for more information, please contact our Development Department.

Your Support Makes ALL the Difference!
Your participation is very important to us. Berkshire South, in its almost eight years of existence, is vibrant, supportive and inclusive. It is your community center and one that serves a vital role in bringing people together to foster common bonds, healthy lifestyles and a general sense of well being. However, memberships alone do not fully sustain all the services, programs and activities that make your community center what it is.

Did you know that ...
• Since our opening in 2002, over 800,000 people have come through our doors
• Annually, BSRCC gives out over $120,000 a year in financial aid to those in need
• BSRCC hosts a free community supper every month and it is attended by over 125 people each month
• 150 meals a day are distributed from BSRCC through Meals on Wheels
• Our fitness equipment and classes are accessible to those with disabilities
• We have a pre-school, after-school youth programs and summer camps
• BSRCC donates space to community groups & non-profits to assist them in pursuing their mission

Planned Giving: An Investment for the Future
To fund its important programs, Berkshire South Regional Community Center depends heavily on private contributions from caring individuals. Please discover the benefits of supporting Berkshire South through your estate plans.

These donations (often called planned gifts) can offer many advantages:

  • Reduce estate taxes
  • Provide a life income stream
  • Allow you to make a much larger gift than you thought possible
  • Receive a current income tax deduction
  • Reduce or avoid capital gains tax
  • Support the vital work of the Center

If you have not yet included Berkshire South in your estate plans, please call us to begin the conversation. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact us at 413-528-0397. We would be happy to send you a copy of our brochure "A Guide to Estate Planning" that contains a more detailed explanation of the opportunities and benefits of planned giving.

Thank you for your interest in leaving a legacy to help sustain the mission of Berkshire South: to ensure rural communities have deep and sustained opportunities to connect people to people, resources to need, while discovering the power of engaging people to work tirelessly toward a goal or common purpose.

Become a Volunteer
The Center has several volunteer opportunities available, which will provide you with a meaningful and rewarding experience. If you have a few hours of time to spare each week and would like to make a difference in the life of our community consider becoming involved in our volunteer Program. Our volunteers find these opportunities very enriching as it provides them an opportunity to reach out to someone who needs a friend, a smile and an outlet for socialization. In helping others the volunteer finds a new sense of pride and joy that comes from helping someone in need.

Please join us by contacting 528-2810.

Join an Advisory Committee
The Advisory Membership Committees are volunteers who participate in the guidance and direction of volunteer efforts for the Center’s program areas or departments. These advisories lend perspective and insight to the department directors. Advisory volunteers support the staff and other volunteers in promoting the mission and purpose of Berkshire South, while encouraging programs and membership in the community. The advisories engage in fund raising related to special projects and programs. Advisory volunteers work with the BSRCC team to maximize successful outcomes while supporting the center’s mission, development, and growth.
